At Chewse, we believe that embracing what makes us human in the workplace is what allows us to thrive there as well, and vulnerable leadership is at the heart of it all. Call us crazy, but it seems silly – and nearly inhumane – to pretend you’re always thriving. Why is it that we never answer the question “How are you?” with anything other than “I’m good thanks!”?
These responses aren’t made necessarily by choice – as a society, we’re led to believe we should keep our personal stuff… well, personal. At work, we aren’t vulnerable with each other because our leaders aren’t vulnerable with us. And that isn’t new. We’ve all heard the horror stories of employees who didn’t know their company was going under until the day they closed the doors.
The fact of the matter is, leaders are seldom seen as vulnerable, but being vulnerable is a reality of being human. So, in the spirit of vulnerable leadership, we’re excited to share with you this live streaming video from our April 4th panel discussion. In it, you’ll see four very inspiring entrepreneurs talk about what it means to be a leader in today’s world. These leaders get honest about what it means to practice vulnerable leadership.
“Success is not something that is pre-ordained or a roadmap that is laid out for us. This has really helped me be ok with a lot of the uncertainty of building a business.”
