Halloween is hands down the best holiday of the year (don’t @us, you know it’s true). What’s better than spooky fun, silly costumes, and – lest we forget – CANDY!

The only downside of Halloween, in fact, is that there are too many ways to celebrate. Should you… do an office trick or treat party around the various departments? Why not… host an outrageously competitive costume contest? Or what about… transforming part of the office into a haunted house?! The spooky starless sky is truly the limit.

While we won’t tell you too not do any of these things, the Chewse blog is coming in hot with an out-of-the-(jack-in-the-)box suggestion so groovy, everyone in your office will love it: a Halloween breakfast party.

Halloween for breakfast?

You heard us! Instead of hosting a happy hour or even waiting until lunch, get started with Halloween first thing in the morning! It’s the all hands celebration your workplace won’t forget, and centering your costumed party around breakfast treats is a great way to get everyone pumped for the day.

Now we know, we know, Halloween for breakfast isn’t the traditional way to go, but here are just a few reasons why it’s a match made in candy heaven.

ONE – Costumes are still in top shape

Office Halloween competitions can be some of the most entertaining events of the year – but if you wait to host the event until lunch or happy hour, everyone will have seen each other’s costumes! Worse, holding off until later in the day means employees will have been wearing their costumes all day. The wear and tear of the office will get to the costumes, and you won’t see everyone in their Halloween best.

Hosting in the morning accomplishes two costume-related perks: everyone is seeing the costumes for the first time during the costume contest, AND the costumes they’re seeing are in the best possible shape.

Going a step further, early morning Halloween costume parties can be a great way to encourage your more conservative office mates. Some people may not want to spend the whole day in costume – but by hosting the event in the morning over some breakfast catering, they can then change or remove parts of their costume to remain comfortable for the rest of the day.

TWO – Get the whole office excited for the day!

In general, breakfast catering is a great way to kickstart the day and get everyone on your team excited for what’s to come. It allows you to take the time to come together over breakfast, debrief about yesterday’s plans, and prep for today’s goals.

On Halloween, coming together over breakfast catering goes even farther. When you combine the energy of Halloween with the momentum your team gets after sharing breakfast together, you’ll all be ready to move further and faster, while pushing the bar 10x higher.

In fact, not only is eating breakfast good for you in general, eating breakfast at work is a great way to connect with your team and sync before the day gets started. It’s a great opportunity to talk about where you’re at in the day, and check in with your coworkers. Is someone having a rough morning? Knowing that first-thing makes communication smoother all day. Is your whole team prepping for a sprint? Chowing down before you rev up gives you the organic opportunity to prepare – together.

THREE – Breakfast sweets = catering candy

French toast? Pancakes? Cinnamon rolls? Chocolate croissants?! Breakfast is made to be sweet, which makes it the perfect replacement for traditional Halloween candy. (Not to say you shouldn’t eat candy! Think of breakfast catering as a supplement to your traditional Halloween activities, not a replacement.)

So on Halloween morning, consider participating in “office trick or treating” as you go down the family-style breakfast catering line. Grab a piece of french toast, drizzle some syrup, and enjoy the meal with your coworkers!
