Happy Independence Day, America! *cheers patriotically*
We are, primarily, food people which means we think, primarily, about food. So, on this most American of holidays, we’d like to take the time to highlight different hot dog styles in the wonderful cities we serve.
The bacon-wrapped hot dog! This hot dog is first wrapped in bacon then griddled and slapped on a fresh bun. Though you can add whatever toppings you prefer, a little birdie told us to try grilled onions, grilled peppers, ketchup, mustard, mayo, and whole grilled jalapeño peppers. Enjoy, LA!
Gotta love those Chicago dogs. Chicagoans don’t shy away from their hot dogs – top this particular delicacy with mustard, chopped onions, sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices, pickled peppers, and salt. Just don’t get caught putting ketchup on it!
Though Austin may not have their own classic toppings, head to The Funkadelic and Sezi Hand Pies for some excellent sausage options. Prefer house-made? Our very own Black’s BBQ has homemade, hand-stuffed sausages. They use their secret, 80-year-old recipe to this day! BBQ your own or grab a few from our restaurant partners, then sit back and relax.
The Mission dog! Delightfully similar to the LA bacon-wrapped hot dog, the Mission dog differs in toppings. Enjoy it with grilled onions, mustard, ketchup, mayo, and jalapeños
Would a Silicon Valley post be complete without talking about the latest and greatest app? In true fashion, some Silicon Valley techies digitized the hot dog eating experience and made their very own app. Available on both iPhone and Android, try it out while munching on your 4th of July hot dog.
