With hundreds of food truck options cruising around the city, San Francisco is one of the best destinations for street eats in the US. And as food lovers they are one of our favorite ways to get high quality, on-the-go food and enjoy a meal outdoors.
Here are some of our local favorites:
Inspired by Asian street food, The Chairman’s unique baos (Chinese buns) will satisfy your savory and bold tastebuds! Whether you choose a steamed or baked bun with pork belly, spicy chicken or beef, you really can’t go wrong: these baos pack a ton of flavor. A personal tip – grab a side of citrusy-salted wonton chips and finish the meal off strong.
A staple among food truck regulars, Senor Sisig creates a unique hybrid between Filipino and Mexican cuisine. While they are best known for their gigantic burritos, their nachos and tacos are also top-notch. The California Sisig Burrito, stuffed with french fries, your choice of meat, shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole & pico de gallo is their most popular item, but if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, try the Tosilog burrito, with Filipino Sweet Pork, adobo garlic rice, fresh tomatoes and a fried egg.
When we think of food trucks, seafood is probably the last thing on our mind. But Lobsta Truck nails all of its menu items, from buttery lobster rolls, to clam chowder and losbter bisque, all accompanied by fresh squeezed lemonade. Did someone say summer in New England?
“The Fun’s Between the Buns” is Slider Shack’s motto. And damn are they right! Picture soft Hawaiian sweet rolls packed with Kalua pork, panko-fried chicken breast or grass-fed marinated beef, all topped with Slider Shack’s magical Polynesian Green Sauce. Island paradise never tasted this good. Personal Chewse favorite: Traditional burger sliders with tater tots. Please don’t forget the tater tots, they are a must!
While this isn’t your traditional food truck (Del Popolo is a twenty-foot transatlantic shipping container that’s been re-purposed and modified into a kitchen), it’s the best spot to grab traditional, Italian-style wood-fired pizzas. This unique food truck experience allows customers to see each pizza being made, tossed and placed in the oven. You know what they say, you can judge a pizza joint by how good their Margherita is, and Del Popolo does not disappoint.
Doc’s mission is to enrich the local community through comfort food: to give you a product and service that brightens your day, and to do it in a way that is both conscientious and fun. We love Doc’s for putting a modern spin on a classic American treat, burgers and fries. Doc’s takes burgers to the next level, and its fried chicken is out of this world. Pro tip: you must try their mac and cheese, (which isn’t available via the food truck) but available through catering (or Chewse!).
